To popularize Indian Classical Music amongst the youth the Consulate has launched new initiative titled "Baithak@Consulate" which will feature prominent artists.

2. Baithak will be a lounge setting where the audience and the artiste come closer-from the ceremonial formality of the stage to the easy intimacy of a close gathering .

3. The inaugural event featured Pandit Rajan & Sajan Mishra, Renowned Vocalists in the Khyal style of Indian Classical Music was held on Wednesday, April 18, 2018. The event, a lecture-demonstration, was moderated by prominent Sitar exponent, Mr. Hidayat Husain Ali.

4. Both, Pandit Rajan & Sajan Mishra, were awarded the Padma Bhushan in 2007. Born into a 300-year-old lineage of musicians, the brothers belong to the Banaras Gharana. Addressing the audience, the artists spoke about their training at a young age and how Indian Classical Music is gaining in influence and the audiences are flocking back to the theatres to listen to good music.

5. The next Baithak@Consulate will feature vocal music by Pandit Sanjoy Banerjee on Friday, June 08, 2018 at 6:00 pm.
